MY BIO
«A Pianist Who Makes You Think and Dream»
«Un pianista che fa pensare e sognare»
(L. Ciammarughi, 2023)
With these words, Nicolas Giacomelli, Italian pianist and composer born in 1998, has been described. Praised for his “audacity and perfect mastery of the form” (Pianiste, S.Friédérich), through his interpretations he reveals “exceptional intellectual and emotional qualities, along with complete mastery of the keyboard […], all with a certain underlying sobriety” (L.Ciammarughi).
In July 2023, Nicolas Giacomelli won first prize at the prestigious Shigeru Kawai International Piano Competition in Tokyo, marking the beginning of a concert collaboration with KAWAI. Over his career, he has received awards in over 40 competitions, including the Concours International Piano Campus (France), Premio Venezia, NTD Competition (USA), and the Friuli Venezia Giulia International Piano Competition (Italy). In 2016, he was officially awarded the title of Italian musical excellence by the then President of the Chamber of the Deputies.
Giacomelli has performed across Europe, America, and Asia, with notable appearances at esteemed venues like the Quirinale in Rome, Fazioli Concert Hall, Cité de la Musique in Paris, Sala Verdi at the Milan Conservatory and the Sakura Concert Hall in Shibuya. His recordings and interviews have been broadcast on Rai Radio 3, France Musique, Rete Toscana Classica, NettunoTV, and SkyClassica HD. In 2023, he recorded his third CD, as part of the Schumann Project of the Accademia di Imola. Giacomelli is also an active chamber musician, playing on a regular basis with violinist Lorenzo Meraviglia and the Àrktos Trio. He is also Professor of Piano at the A.Corelli Conservatory in Messina.

For over 10 years, Giacomelli studied with Leonid Margarius at the International Academy of Imola, where he graduated in 2022. Concurrently, he earned a Master’s in Piano (2016) with honors, a Master’s in Composition (2021), and a Master’s in Instrumentation for Wind Band (2019) from the G.B.Martini Conservatory in Bologna. In 2023, he completed an Artist Diploma at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris under Michel Dalberto and Frank Braley, and he is currently studying with Benedetto Lupo at the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia.
